RISK MANAGEMENT
We believe that risk management is as important as stock selection. Blossom's investment style - buying growth at a reasonable price or below intrinsic value - provides investors with an underlying margin of safety. Investing in companies with significant tangible assets, strong cash flows or high amounts of cash adds further downside protection. We also manage risk through portfolio diversification, position limits and, if appropriate, the use of conservative hedging techniques. While we concentrate holdings in alternative energy and clean technology sectors, we hold from 40 to 60 stocks in a variety of industries and sub-industries, many of which are uncorrelated. We hedge primarily with puts and calls on equities and exchange-traded funds mirroring market and sector indices. NEXT >> |
